About Us

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Richmond Indiana serves all of Wayne County. It was founded in 1990 as a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity partners with families in need to build decent, affordable housing. The houses are then sold to the partner family at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor. Individuals, churches, service groups and businesses contribute money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - 'sweat equity' - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments and other donations help our Habitat for Humanity affiliate build more houses for community residents in need.
