Volunteer Opportunitys
On Site Construction
Come and help us construct houses for low-income families. Building takes place on Wednesday afternoons, all day Saturdays, and by special arrangements. Come as an individual or arrange for a group team-building day. Can’t help directly with construction? Volunteer to make lunches for the hungry volunteers.
There is plenty of work: framing, roofing, electrical work, concrete work, siding, installing cabinets and other finish carpentry work. General helpers do painting, landscaping, clean up and lots of other types of work too. Get hands-on training & experience working with skilled volunteers.
Workers contribute about 3,000 volunteer hours per house, helping to keep the homes affordable. Volunteers often work side-by-side with partner families promoting understanding and support.

Family Selection Committee
Want to make a real difference in someone’s life? Join in the family selection process. Take and review applications. Be part of a team conducting in-home interviews. Determine if Habitat criteria for partner families is met. Assist in making recommendations to the Board of Directors.
Familly Support Committiee
Provide much needed support and encouragement for partner families from the time of selection through the building process, and in the transition to first-time homeownership. Help them understand the sweat equity requirements. Be an advocate to facilitate communication between the partner family and the affiliate. Provide oversight of the Habitat education program that includes learning about how mortgages work and budgeting for home ownership. Plan and implement activities that help build a sense of community among partner families and volunteers. Plan house dedication ceremonies.
Administrative Volunteer
Help out in our new office as a receptionist, a bookkeeper, or a file clerk for a few hours each week. There is always plenty to do.
Fundraising Committee
Over 35% of Habitat’s funding comes from contributions from individuals, houses of faith, and businesses. Thousands of dollars from in-kind contributions of building materials help keep houses affordable for our partner families.
Volunteers are needed to help identify potential donors and design & develop materials & methods that encourage them to make a decision to give to Habitat.
You would be surprised to find how eager people are to give when they understand the principles of Habitat for Humanity.
Volunteer Committee
Contact, recruit and organize other volunteers to schedule times and places to work, whether on a construction site, in the office, or supplying lunches for volunteers. Committee members are also in charge of volunteer appreciation, which includes writing thank you notes and even throwing parties!
Finance Committee
Review and recommend revisions in financial policies and mortgages, as needed. Assist in developing the agency budget in preparation for the annual audit.
Site Selection Committee
Help find potential sites for construction. Locate sites. Check out zoning and ownership. Help determine if the sites are suitable for Habitat houses. Clustered sites are great, but we consider individual lots as well. Learn more about real estate while helping a great cause.
Partner Family Selection
Families must meet certain criteria in order to be chosen for a home. Each must commit to providing 350 hours or more of “sweat equity” and take a variety of classes, including basic construction & home maintenance and financial classes that teach money management, budgeting, mortgages, taxes and insurance.
